Principal's Message 2018
Foreword to students
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and
doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new
There is innate curiosity in everyone. When conceiving the theme for the year, we
chose the word ‘ignite’. We want to
light up the curiosity that we all have. The following are some practical steps
we can take to achieve this:
Be interested in your own learning. Empower yourself with the necessary knowledge and tools to examine your own learning. In every topic, find out where you are, where you are going, and what you need to do to get there. Be proactive to seek out new knowledge while clarifying your own thoughts about them. As you do so, you will soon develop a critical mind and gain a deep sense of fulfilment.
Be willing to explore and experiment.
Ask yourself what you need to do differently to improve a particular
situation. Be bold in sharing your ideas
with your teachers and peers in class and at various platforms such as CCAs and
VIA projects. And after having examined
the possibilities, have the courage to put the ideas to test. You may not always succeed but never let the
failures deter you. In due course, you
will gain in confidence and develop a desire to improve continually.
Develop a sense of purpose. Find out what you are passionate about, and
how you can use your strengths to serve others.
When you pay careful attention, you will become sensitive to the needs
of others. Ask yourself what you can do
to make a difference. You may not have a
clear idea of what you want to do in life yet, but you will soon realise you
can make a difference wherever you are.
Finally, you will need friends and loved
ones to walk with you and spur you on as you “move forward”, “open new doors”
and “do new things”. And you can always count
on your teachers to guide you along. That
is what we are here for.
Let’s look forward to a fruitful year. It will inevitably involve a lot of hard work on your part, but take on the “new paths”. 2018 will be a fulfilling journey with many joys.
