Semi-Finalists at Singapore Secondary Schools Debate Championships (SSSDC) Division III 2015

SSSDC.jpg

On Friday, 10 April, the EVG debate team, Luke Tan, Stella Lee, Nur Sabrina, Dean Chua and Hayden Yeo, made it to the Semi-Finals after winning at the Quarter-Finals. At the Semi-Finals, the team was to compete against Kent Ridge Secondary School on the impromptu motion “THBT politicians should only be allowed to serve in office for a limited period of time.” as the opposition team.

It was a tough fight as both teams were pretty on par. It was indeed an epic battle. It was to anticipate the results to either reach the Grand Finals, or to lose and end the battle.

Sadly, despite their best efforts, our team had lost with a spilt decision 2-3 by the adjudicators. Nevertheless our achievement was unprecedented. The team emerged as semi-finalists among 41 teams in Division 3, thus accomplishing a great feat.

Other than that, the unprecedented achievement was that Nur Sabrina of 5 Dynamic and Stella Lee of 4 Respect emerged as the Top 10 Best Speakers among 41 teams who took part at the tournament. They were the 8th and 9th Best Speaker respectively based on the scores at the preliminary rounds. Congratulations to the girls!

Indeed, the team has made the school proud with these unprecedented results.

NCDCC - UOPA Gold

Evergreen is proud to announce that our NCDCC unit has been awarded the UOPA Gold award for 2014. We are proud to announce that we have managed to achieve the UOPA Gold Award for the 4th year in a row. This has led to our 2nd Sustained Excellence Award
The commandant of NCDCC also commented that this achievement is testament to the effort and dedication of our teacher officers who have been instrumental in the training and development of the NCDCC cadets, as well as in supporting HQ NCDCC in our programmes. The cadets have also been enthusiastic in their participation in NCDCC programmes.

SCDF- NCDCC Pinnacle Award

Evergreen is proud to announce that two of our NCDCC cadets have been awarded the SCDF-NCDCC Pinnacle award. The SCDF-NCDCC Pinnacle award is the highest accolade given to the most outstanding cadets so that they may be role models of excellence for others to emulate. The objective is to identify and give recognition to the most outstanding cadets who display exceptional leadership qualities and have made extensive contributions to their units and HQ at the national level. Being the pinnacle badge, only 30 are awarded to all the units this year. It is also the second time that all the nominees from our NCDCC unit have obtained the awards.
Congratulations to WO Liyana from 4 CMT and WO Mahirah from 4 ETP.
